From Nov. 14th to 15th, a delegation led by Vice President Dong Qi from Tongji University visited some important partner universities in Japan.
In the morning of Nov. 14th, Dong Qi and the delegation visited Waseda University. They met Prof. Katsuichi UCHIDA, Vice President of Waseda University and the Director of International Cooperation Office. Both sides reflected on the achievements since the agreements on academic exchange and student exchange were signed in 2003 and explored the possibility to further cooperation not only on science and engineering but also in a wide range of liberal arts and science subjects.
In the afternoon of Nov.14th, the delegation visited Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and met Prof. Yoshinao Mishima, Vice President of Tokyo Tech. They reviewed the achievements in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and material sciences since the academic cooperation agreement was signed in 2007 and briefed the current efforts and policies in the international cooperation. Dong Qi proposed suggestions to promote comprehensive collaboration between two universities which were responded positively.
In the morning of Nov. 15th, the delegation visited Tohoku University in Sendai and met Prof. Inoue, President of Tohoku University. Dong Qi firstly extended his sympathy for what the university has been through during the 3/11 Earthquake and then appreciated the care to exchange students from Tongji under such hard circumstances. Dong said since our two universities were both founded in 1907 and with similar discipline structures, Tongji is ready to collaborate with Tohoku University to give a full play to its specialty in urban construction and disaster prevention. He hoped that both sides can cooperate in the fields of disaster prevention, green building and building materials to further strategic partnership.
