Hermann-Hesse-Scholarship-and-Sponsorship of the
Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw
for Southeast and East Asia
 
for the academic year 2009/2010
 
 
 
  1. Scholarship program objectives and prerequisites for applications
 
The Hermann-Hesse-Scholarship-and-Sponsorship Program of the Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw is designed to enable students from partner universities in Southeast and East Asian countries to stay at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and students from Tübingen to stay at one of the partner universities of the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in Southeast and East Asia. Applicants must have adequate German language skills. As a rule, applicants should not be older than 28 years.
 
 
 
  1. Applications
 
The completed application form of the Hermann-Hesse-Scholarship-and-Sponsorship Program of the Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw should be sent through the International Office of the participating universities to

  1. Duration and Amount of the Scholarship
 
As a rule, the duration of the sponsorship will be one academic year (ten months). In special cases, partial scholarships, short term scholarships, or funding for specified projects can be granted as well. The amount of the scholarship will be 750,- € per month and will be paid at the beginning of each month. Within the framework of a full scholarship, the travel costs of a return fare to the host university and back will be refunded (with proof of the actual costs up to a maximum amount of 1000,- €).
 
 
 
  1. Responsibilities of the Grantee
 
The grantee is obliged to
 
§participate in the academic program of the field he/she is registered in at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen during his/her stay,
§discuss his/her study program with an academic advisor before the start the program,
§take care of his/her own insurance coverage (health and accident insurance) and
§to submit a written report at the end of the stay in Tübingen.
 
 
  1. Responsibilities of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen
 
The Department of International Affairs supports grantees with the organisation of their studies and assists in finding accommodation in a dormitory in Tübingen.
 
 
 
  1. Application Documents
 
All applicants must submit:
 
  1. a completed application form of the Hermann-Hesse-Scholarship-and-Sponsoring Program of the Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw (see attachment)
  2. a curriculum vitae in tabular form,
  3. a transcript and
  4. one letter of recommendation.
 
 
 
  1. Selection dates and Beginning of the Stay
 
Applications for scholarships of the Hermann-Hesse-Scholarship-and-Sponsoring Program of the Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw should be sent to Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen until February 15, 2009. Applicants will be informed of the decision at the beginning of April. The scholarship will be awarded for the following academic year, starting October 1, 2009 and ending July 31, 2010.
